Quite a few mattress brands are available in companies like Mattress Firm, Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and Macy’s, which sell mattresses both on their websites and in-store locations. But can you buy Saatva mattresses there as well? The situation with Saatva is a bit different, actually. I asked their customer service where to buy Saatva mattresses and here’s what they told me.

Where to buy a Saatva mattress online

There’s only one place you can buy a Saatva mattress online, and it’s their official website. That’s also the only way to get the full Saatva warranty.

Some individuals might sell their used or unopened mattresses on places like eBay, but I can’t really instruct you to go there because

  • a) you can’t get the warranty, and
  • b) there’s not much choice, you can only hope they’re selling exactly what you need.
Where to buy Saatva mattress (online and offline) (2)

I even found a website that “liquidates mattresses” by, as they say, buying them from manufacturers for low prices during slow seasons and reselling them.

The price they offer is way lower than the original price. This company has its own replacement warranty because the act of reselling mattresses, that is, being the second owner, denies the original manufacturer’s warranty.

If you find any of these deals online or in your own area, please be careful because it could prove to be a scam.

One of the reasons you can mainly find Saatva in their own stores is that every single Saatva mattress is made-to-order here in the US.

Yes, they start making your mattress only after you buy it, which makes me question the above type of business. Saatva factory workers make around 2,500 mattresses per week and each buyer gets a new freshly-made mattress.

This is how Saatva makes sure they deliver the best quality of the mattress because it doesn’t have to sit in a storage facility with questionable temperature regulation (which can damage the foam) and attract co*ckroaches and signs of bedbugs, or get damaged due to improper storage.

Speaking of handling and quality, Saatva isn’t a bed-in-a-box brand because in order to be one, they would have to make only airy-foam mattresses with pocketed coils. These materials can be squished and rolled into a roly-poly and shoved into a box.

Instead, many of their mattresses are sturdy and some contain robust old-style coil systems which cannot be squished. Your Saatva mattress will only arrive flat.

I talked a lot about bed-in-a-box vs. traditional mattresses, and Saatva is one of the brands that fill in the gap – it’s an online mattress company whose products arrive by truck, but it’s more of a traditional mattress in how well it’s built.

For this reason, there are no Saatva mattresses sold on Amazon or elsewhere online.

Saatva’s official website

As I pointed out, the Saatva website is the single online place where you can buy a Saatva mattress. And it’s really not hard.

You can reach out to Saatva customer service via online chat or phone 24/7. Their representatives are all US-based, friendly, knowledgeable, and ready to help you with anything you need.

You can also take a simple mattress quiz of only six questions to find out what’s the best Saatva mattress for you. Additionally, I’d recommend you use our guide on choosing the right mattress for extra information on mattress sizes, types, firmness levels, etc.

As for the prices, Saatva mattresses are not the cheapest mattresses out there, but you can finance your mattress through Affirm (they used to accept Klarna, but stopped in 2022).

On top of that, you can hunt for seasonal discounts or check if you’re eligible for a special discount of $225 on orders over $1,000.

This discount program covers the military, healthcare workers, first responders, students, teachers, government employees, and seniors.

Loom & Leaf mattress is a memory foam model.

  • Core support: Memory foam

Memory Foam Hybrid mattress

More often than not, a memory foam hybrid mattress is a better choice than a simple memory foam mattress because “hybrids combine the best of both worlds” (this expression has become a real mattress-industry cliche, but it’s true).

The Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid mattress has AirCradle foam which kind of looks like an upside-down egg crate, except the “egg crate” part is more like waves.

It’s supposed to give you more contouring, pressure relief, and allow easier moving around.

  • Type: Memory foam & innerspring hybrid
  • Firmness level: Medium-firm
  • Top/Cover: Quilted cover with organic cotton
  • Edge support: High-density foam
  • Core support: AirCradle memory foam
  • Base support: 1″ premium support core foam
  • Cooling: Cotton cover, AirCradle foam, pocketed coils
  • Compatible with Saatva adjustable bed: Yes

Zenhaven Natural Latex mattress

Zenhaven Natural Latex mattress is the real gem among Saatva mattress models.

The only 100% natural latex mattress is flippable; the Dunlop latex side offers a firmer surface while the Talalay latex is the luxury plush side.

It’s great for side sleepers as well as any other sleeping position.

Can you decide between the all-time favorite Saatva Classic and Zenhaven?

I pick Zenhaven.

If you’re heavy, this is the one for you. Saatva HD is medium-firm, but lightweight sleepers might feel like it’s firmer than that.

This is a great mattress for heavy sleepers.

Saatva RX mattress

Saatva RX is somewhat of an experimental mattress.

Who puts foam cylinders on top of pocketed coils? And then places foam-encased micro-coils (what?) on top of that?

Definitely the most futuristic model, the Saatva RX – which has just come out – has yet to prove its worth among customers.

  • Type: Innerspring micro-coil hybrid
  • Firmness level: Supportive Plush
  • Top/Cover: Organic cotton
  • Edge support: High-density foam

FAQs

Is Saatva delivered compressed in a box?

No. Saatva mattresses are made of more durable materials than mattress-in-a-box online mattresses. These high-quality materials can’t be squished and rolled into a small box. Every Saatva mattress arrives flat and with a free white glove delivery which includes old mattress removal.

Where are Saatva mattresses made?

Saatva mattresses are made in the US. There are 19 factories in total and 85% of all materials are sourced in the US.

Where is Saatva based?

Saatva is based in New York City, New York, U.S.

Do people complain about Saatva mattresses?

Yes. They definitely complain less than they do for some other brands, but the main complaint is actually about the delivery service. Saatva uses third-party delivery companies and sometimes those guys don’t deliver on time, make people wait, and they are not always the most accommodating with scheduling. Other Saatva complaints include their mattress sagging too early, being uncomfortable (I have yet to see a manufacturer who doesn’t get this complaint), and rarely, issues with customer service, returns, or warranty.

Helix mattress or Saatva mattress?

Our overall pick is Saatva, specifically the Classic model. If you want to look into both brands in greater detail, check out our Saatva vs. Helix comparison.

Conclusion

You can buy Saatva mattresses on Saatva.com and see them in person in one of about a dozen mattress stores across the US.

If you find their mattresses elsewhere online or in a physical store, bear two things in mind – they will not be covered by Saatva warranty and they will not be freshly made-to-order (who knows what could be wrong with them, so be ready to take risks if you opt for that).

If there’s anything you’re not sure about, you can always reach out to Saatva customer support; literally, always – at any time, and ask them.

These US-made mattresses are not the most affordable, but they offer good quality.

Next step: Check out where you can buy the Saatva Classic mattress. It’s Saatva’s flagship model. If you aren’t sure which mattress to go with, choose the Classic (available both online and in stores).
