This is specific to one of the booking partners on the site, Prestigia. I made a reservation on April 27 for a room on May 12-14. Received an immediate confirmation -- not a tentative reservation, but a confirmation. They took my money. Today, May 6, they are sorry to inform me they cannot confirm my reservation. Hmmm, but they just did, didn't they? They offered other hotels that were not nearly as nice. I had a great deal at an Intercontinental. They probably never had the room for me and when they bid my offer to the hotel and it was rejected, they try to slam me in to some crappy other hotel. So, I'm now screwed. At least I have some time to find another room last-minute. Never again for either Trivago or Prestigia.

I made reservations for the first and last time through Trivago today. Their third party rentaroom.com charged me 300$ unexpected dollars over the reservation! I caught it when I opened up my credit card bill today and today happens to also be the day that I am traveling and checking in. I called the hotel directly to check out why my credit card bill was 300$ over what I expected and they said it was a third party company (Trivago....which must have led me to rentaroom.com) and that I had to take up the dispute with them. The hotel however confirmed that the third party rate was 300$ higher!!!!

This site and their ads promote the fact that you SAVE money using their service...something like "why go to another travel site when we let you compare prices". Never again. I have always made my reservations directly with hotels where there are no hidden third party fees and will from now on. Beware! When I called the phone number listed on my credit card bill they said I could not cancel my reservation and offered me a 149$ credit back. How about the 300$ over they were charging for the same room? Watch out!

The Trivago website lists a hotel, a rate, and a states that the reservation has a cancellation policy. Click on the link, enter your cc info, hit enter, get a confirmation from a 2 bit "booking agency" who changed the cancellation policy to non refundable. Never EVER again will I get near Trivago or their deceptive advertising policies.

Made a hotel reservation this morning for my wife but entered the incorrect check-in date by one day early. After hitting submit, I immediately called Trivago and was told they could not amend the reservation unless the hotel approved so I called the hotel directly and after explaining my story they said they would change it but needed Trivago on the line to issue a new merchant voucher number. I called Trivago back and, after more than one hour on hold, gave up. Meanwhile, my wife changed her plans to go a day early to avoid losing the money on the room. She called the hotel and was told there is no reservation under her name or res number. More shockingly, they said they'd wouldn't have honored the Trivago rate of $137 stating that their lowest rate is $252 for the same room. Total waste of a morning. Stay away from this scam company.

I booked with Trivago. Algotels took over my reservation. They texted me before my flight that all is set for my hotel stay. Once I landed and got to the hotel, the hotel said my reservation was cancelled. I tried calling Algotels from the text and my statement. I got nowhere. Line kept hanging up on me. I had to pay for my stay again with a much higher rate. I reached out to my credit card. They reversed the charges pending dispute. This was in October, now it’s November, charges were charged again on my credit card. My credit card company said Algotels provided documentation stating I fulfilled my stay. That is a lie. Hotel showed 3 attempts and reservation was cancelled. I’m still trying to get my money back. Someone please help me get my money back.

I went on Trivago to search for a hotel in New York City for 2 nights and found one for the Marriott Marquis. Trivago took me to a booking site called ALGOTELS and they charged me $660 for the two nights. A few days ago I called the hotel to ask a question and was told that they didn't have my reservation so I have been in contact with both Trivago and Algotels and have gotten nothing but a runaround from both. I have left it up to my credit card company to get info and they did a credit to my account as they look into the issue.

Don't be fooled, I lost almost 2,500.00 dollars because I made a reservation on a page that Trivago advertised and it was a fraudulent company and TRIVAGO said that they were not responsible for the theft. On the other hand, something similar happened to me with KAYAK and they did take responsibility for a fraud from another company that they advertised and they returned all my money!!! I don't know why TRIVAGO keeps advertising hotel sites if they know that many of the companies they advertise are scams and thieves, do they also receive some commission for fraud? Otherwise because they keep announcing hotels etc. etc. KAYAK, PRICELINE OR BOOKING are very good, trustworthy and responsible.

Booked two rooms at the Disney All Sports through Trivago then third party site Agoda it put in dates for my stay but as I looked after I paid the dates were wrong. By then I couldn't get a refund or credit for different days so I'm out $450.00 dollars. The site is very deceiving. I feel scammed. They could at least changed the day.

We booked the Royal York in Toronto via the Trivago site through a third party supplier named Traveluro. We received a voucher with a confirmation number. On the day of travel by air from Halifax, NS to Toronto we were advised that our reservation at the Royal York was cancelled because it was overbooked. We then phoned the Royal York and they advised that they were not overbooked and did have many rooms left and did not recognize our confirmation number. We then contacted Traveluro. We then contacted Traveluro who then again stated that there were no room available at the Royal York but offered us a room at a three star hotel called The Beverley. We reluctantly accepted this reservation because we were out of options.

Shortly after we were advised that our booking at the Beverley was cancelled due to overbooking and were offered a booking at the Double Tree which was currently under renovations. As a matter of fact you could barely gain entrance to the main doors of the hotel. Again we had no choice but to accept and that's where we stayed for three nights. The moral of the story is that when you're booking through a third party you don't have a confirmation #. As confirmed by the Royal York it's just a temporary confirmation and if there is high demand the third party reservations are cancelled.

They propose you prices which are always without taxes for hotels in EU which have taxes included. They propose good deals but later they cancel your reservations. Those deals keep appearing on their search results but you can’t have them! Complete waste of time. Go to Hotels.com and you’ll always get 1 for free after 10 stays! Simple and more efficient.
