- Greet and welcome patients and their families as they enter our facility.
- Provide exceptional customer service while assisting patients with registration and scheduling appointments.
- Verify insurance information and explain coverage and payment options to patients.
- Collect and enter accurate patient demographic and medical information into electronic medical records.
- Answer phone calls and assist with inquiries and appointment scheduling.
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure timely and efficient patient flow.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Handle patient complaints and concerns in a professional and empathetic manner.
- Educate patients and their families on our services, policies, and procedures.
- Keep work area clean and organized to ensure a professional and welcoming environment for patients.
- Communicate with external providers and insurance companies to obtain necessary medical records and authorizations.
- Adhere to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Attend training and development sessions to stay updated on changes in the healthcare industry.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the patient experience.
- Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to ensure smooth operations and high-quality patient care.

Job Qualifications
Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Candidates For This Role Should Have Previous Experience Working In A Healthcare Environment, Preferably In A Pediatric Or Adult Outpatient Clinic. This Will Provide Them With A Basic Understanding Of The Healthcare System And The Needs Of Patients.
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology And Insurance Processes: Patient Access Specialists Are Responsible For Verifying Insurance Coverage And Obtaining Necessary Authorizations For Procedures. Therefore, Candidates Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology And Insurance Processes To Ensure Accuracy And Efficiency In Their Work.
Excellent Communication And Customer Service Skills: As The First Point Of Contact For Patients, A Patient Access Specialist Must Possess Excellent Communication And Customer Service Skills To Provide A Positive Experience For Patients And Their Families. This Includes The Ability To Handle Difficult Situations With Empathy And Professionalism.
Attention To Detail And Accuracy: Patient Information Must Be Accurately Entered Into The System To Ensure Proper Billing And Treatment. Candidates Should Have A Strong Attention To Detail And Be Able To Maintain Accuracy While Working In A Fast-Paced Environment.
Familiarity With Electronic Health Record Systems: Prisma Health Uses Electronic Health Record Systems For Patient Information And Scheduling. Candidates Should Have Prior Experience Using These Systems Or Be Able To Quickly Learn And Adapt To New Technology.
